- Radio Frequency Identification (RFID's)
The RFID system consists of a tag (a microchip with a coiled antenna) placed on cargo containers for tracking location, maintenance, status and history. The RFID communicates with a reader, which converts the information into digital data that can be downloaded to a computer. This data is then stored in a computer memory for processing or interface with other software inventory systems or analysis systems.
